Are you ready to take your talent to the next level? Nova Youth Chamber Orchestra is now welcoming new members through our online audition process — a chance to shine on a professional stage and join one of the most vibrant youth ensembles around.

We are currently accepting applications from players of:

Violin, Viola, Cello, and Double Bass only.

How to Audition

1. Prepare Two Pieces:

  • Technique: A piece that demonstrates your technical skill

  • Expression: A piece that shows your musicality and emotional range

2. Record One Video:

  • Combine both pieces into a single video and upload it to YouTube (unlisted or public)

What age group is the program suitable for?

There is no specific age limit for the Nova Youth Chamber Orchestra. The only requirement is that participants must be able to read music and play the orchestral parts. Parts are sent in advance so prospective players can try them out before committing.

💡 Note: Playing in an orchestra significantly enhances musical and ensemble skills, making it a valuable experience for developing musicians of all ages.

When is the registration deadline? Can I register last minute?

There is no formal registration deadline, but applications will close as soon as all spots are filled. We recommend applying early to secure a place. Last-minute registration may be possible only if space remains.

Does my child need to have prior musical experience?

Yes — this is a chamber orchestra, meaning each musician plays an essential, exposed part. Students require significant prior training (beyond beginner level) to handle individual responsibility and ensemble playing

Where is the program located and how do I drop off/pick up my child?

Rehearsals take place at Lorne Park Baptist Church in Mississauga. The exact address and drop-off/pick-up details will be provided upon registration. Please ensure timely arrival and pickup to support a smooth rehearsal experience.

How many students are in each group? What is the teacher-to-student ratio?

They haven’t published specific ensemble sizes or ratios, but chamber orchestras are typically small ensembles of 15–30 players. Instruction is led by Maestro Anton Yeretsky, providing focused guidance in rehearsals
